A full moon in Gemini over Lake Superior is a pretty spectacular thing to witness. It’s been a very-Minnesotan, and very lovely few days in the north country.
There’s been folk music concerts in old churches, smoked lake trout wrapped in newspaper, deviled eggs and coffee, Fitger’s old and cozy hotel, white swan migrations, snow flurries, lift bridge crossings, and Bentleyville’s famous holiday light tour.
This feels like a good moon cycle to reflect on what you most need to hear going into the close of 2023.
How do you want to feel as you prepare for the holidays and the new year to come?

The Bobcat and Blackthorn reversed
This card asks you to examine patience and how patience—or lack of it—manifests in your life.
This reversal points out that we are most often impatient when we act out of haste or another sudden surge of emotion.
It’s certainly a lifelong practice, but how can you learn to slow down more before you react to things that trigger impatience?
What might be more deeply rooted in your regular impatience with a person or situation in your life?
Like a food craving, the next time you feel impatient, watch the emotion swell up, hang around for a minute or two, and then leave. Can you observe this process before reacting?
two
The Goat & Willow
Perhaps it’s the time of year, or maybe you just have a lot on your plate, but this card offers you the reminder to take some time to realign.
What does that mean?
If you have goals, things you’d like to learn, or items you’re trying to accomplish, take a few minutes to do the following:
-revisit these items so you’re clear on what they are and what you’d like to achieve
-observe your current routine and take note of what may be getting in your way to these goals
-make a plan of small or large adjustments needed to move forward in a way that feels exciting and re-aligned
Finally, like a Willow tree (they grow relatively quickly compared with others), remember that you’ll notice progress much more after weeks and months rather than day to day. So don’t give up!
three
The Boar & Pumpkin
This card is all about confidence, but as a reversal, it suggests that you look at where your confidence may bleed into fearlessness or carelessness.
Like a pumpkin, this is a reminder to remain slow an steady in your progress.
This doesn’t have to be a major risk-taking race. Just clear aim and focus, and one foot in front of the other.
If you find yourself rushing or feeling less focused and more careless, take a pause and realign with what you’re trying to do.
