Hi friends,
As some of you know—especially if you’ve been following the “yellow chair story” the past 6 months on Instagram—we had to say goodbye to little Islay (eye-lah) this week.
It’s been awful.
Even though she was ill, it was a very sudden passing that’s left Harry & I feeling empty.
It was just the three of us together all day, every day, for the past few years. Such a blessing to work from home and be able to care for her. We expressed gratitude for that daily.
For those who knew Islay, she was a rare spirit. SO present, smart, and attentive. I feel beyond lucky that she chose me nearly 10 years ago. Every day with her brought endless smiles, joy, and pure love. ❤️
Naturally, we purchased a dog-themed tarot deck this week. It’s a RWS-based deck, which is the system I’m most familiar with. The four suits are fire (wands), sea (cups), sky (swords), and earth (pentacles).
Grief is a strange, sacred space. It calls you to try and connect with whomever you’ve lost in all kinds of ways. The veil feels thin. Hopefully, it is. It’s soothing to imagine that she can hear me somehow, telling her how much I love her.
Enjoy this week’s message from The Spirit Animal Oracle & Magical Dogs Tarot.
xo,
Natalie 🐾

one
Armadillo & Seven of Fire (wands)
Hold your ground by setting healthy boundaries. Sometimes fighting for what you need can be done very quietly, too.
In the spirit of new moon energy and possibilities, this pair reminds you that setting a healthy boundary also means releasing control of the outcome.
“Live and let live” is a strong message for you this week.
If people or things in your life aren’t doing what you want them to, it is more effective (and healthy) to stop pushing against it.
Instead, align with your own truth and offer the rest up.
Release what you can’t control.
two
Frog & The Empress, reversed
A perfect new moon message, Frog asks you to get rid of what isn’t serving you.
As the Empress asks us to bring self-care to the forefront this week, Frog reminds you that this can be so much easier when you let go of the unnecessary.
This can be simple, yet powerful.
Less screen time, more time in nature (or if the weather doesn’t allow, looking out the window).
A fresh juice mix instead of an extra glass of wine.
Bed a little earlier to catch up on sleep.
These are just suggestions.
Additionally, take inventory of your physical space:
What are you holding onto that you don’t need? How might it feel to clear out some clutter?
We often have unaddressed emotional patterns and traumas reflected in our external space. It is all energy, and when you clear out and freshen up, it brightens your spirits, too.
Make room for new, fresh, healing energy this week.
three
Porcupine & Seven of Sky (swords)
It’s time to look at what you’re facing with fresh eyes.
Things aren’t always what they seem, and likewise, solutions might not be where you think you’ll find them.
In order to get a peek behind the curtain to better understand what’s really going on, it’s time to take a step back.
Talk with someone who has some distance from your situation. Or perhaps, letting it go altogether for a period of time is best for now.
Porcupine encourages you to embrace curiosity instead of defensiveness. Being curious always leads down a new, fresh path. It offers new perspectives that might’ve previously been blocked by set opinions or judgements.
Curiosity is warm and open energy. It’s how we make friends and alliances and share love.
Where are you approaching things “quills-first” instead of with open arms?
Changing things up, taking a short break, and coming back with different questions will be just the medicine you’re seeking.
