What’s the big deal with the winter solstice anyways?

On the most basic level, today marks the longest night and shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere.

Throughout known history, people all over the world have recognized the symbolic power of this time year. It represents the death and rebirth of the sun and is honored and celebrated in tons of different ways.

I think we all enjoy the idea of rebirth. It’s a new year, a second chance, a gift.

For me, this time of year is packed with big energy as my birthday (dec 26th) sits right in between the solstice and the new year. It’s rebirth energy times three, which has always helped remind me to take some deep reflection time for myself.

Plus, Capricorn Born fam, we welcome in Capricorn season today!

“With Capricorn we are moving into something new, expanding possibility, and making firm and sure-hearted declarations about what we want to pursue, build, expand, discover, and learn.”

-Meg Jones Wall

Today’s reading is from the Voice of the Souls oracle

This deck works as a guide to help you tune in and listen to the messages trying to reach you. It’s a beautiful deck with a lot of wisdom to offer if you open up to it.

May you welcome in what you most need to work with today and this year ahead.
