Yep, you read that correctly: The Trash Panda Tarot is the newest addition to my collection. And I love it! I’ve been following along on Instagram since this project started during covid, and knew it was a deck I’d love to work with.
I’ve heard folks say it before, and agree: sometimes cards that are humorous bring a lighter energy to readings somehow. Tarot can be profound and serious as well as playful and fun.
Personally, I like a mix of both.
Speaking of a mix, here’s the latest on my take on the RWS tarot system, Saga Modernai Tarot. I’m working in Photoshop and heavily compositing each image using photography, AI art, and digital drawing.
A little info for those who are new to this space: A traditional tarot deck has 78 cards, 22 major arcana (the Empress, Magician, Fool, etc.) and 56 minor arcana (recognized by the 4 suits: wands, cups, swords, and pentacles).
For this project, I’m planning to design a full deck. But first, the majors will be available as fine art prints.
If you’re a tarot buff who enjoys this modern take on the RWS system, follow along for news on prints & when they’re open for purchase:
Today’s deck will hopefully bring a smile to your face. It’s bright, creative, and features one of my favorite creatures. 🦝🦝🦝

The emperor & 3 of pentacles
Whatever project or goal you’re working on—especially in collaboration with others—examine where you feel a little stuck.
How might this benefit from more planning and organization?
Are you cutting corners and rushing a little bit?
Look at how similar efforts have succeeded in the past and try to learn something from them, whether your own or examples from others.
Staying open to learning, trying a new approach to an old problem, and listening to people who might have a different take on things will help move things forward much more quickly.

The Chariot & 5 of swords reversed
You are one determined soul! If you see something you like or want, you’re likely to get involved somehow: following on social, joining a group, donating money, etc.
You like being included in the mix.
This is a reminder to make sure your determination and willpower are balanced with grace and respect for others involved.
Whether at work or in relationships (or even with yourself), do you tend to want to win or be right at all costs?
Do you come on too strong?
This approach will strain your relationships and slow things down.
Instead, try pairing your determination to get what you want or get involved with patience. Forgive yourself for times you may have been pushy or a poor listener. It’s okay.
Dust yourself off, forgive yourself, and try again with a softer approach.

Six of swords reversed & page of cups reversed
This is a not-so-gentle reminder to get out of your own way.
We all do it: overthink, question ourselves, hit a creative wall, or even make emotionally charged, irrational decisions (self-sabotage).
The way through this pattern is by first recognizing when you’re doing it.
Are the choices you’re making ultimately feeling good? Likely, if you’re self sabotaging, they kinda do. There’s a subconscious desire—for a million reasons we don’t have time to get into—to cause yourself a little grief.
The next time you feel like, “Uh, this again!” or “Why is this my life?” or something like that, take a closer look at your own attitude and behaviors.
Try a different approach. Change it up. Make room for new energy to find its way to you.
