Pick-a-card readings have been published on The Sacred Path every Monday since 2020. They are free and set the theme for the week. Later in the week, I’ll tie the theme into a deep dive of a tarot card, offer my own ideas and thoughts, spreads to keep and more. For access to those, consider supporting this effort with $5/month. Your generosity keeps this thing going and I deeply appreciate it.
Hello friends,
Welcome to another week, a week that for some brings excitement, and for others, the opposite. At least here in the US.
I tend to land more on the latter side of things as these giant consumer holidays feel more like theater than genuine connection.
But rather than being grumpy about it, I thought I’d create a spread to explore what many of us might be feeling. Whether you’re in the US celebrating Thanksgiving or giving it a wide berth, this spread looks more deeply at one of the themes that shows up this time of year: Nourishment.
In case you missed it, each week I’m incorporating readings, deep dives on the cards, and other reflections around a weekly theme. Last week’s theme was resilience and the Nine of Wands. You can find those pieces here. (Yes, in addition to a letter in your inbox, The Sacred Path is a whole site on Substack, check it out).
Today’s spread
Card 1: What is draining or blocking my nourishment?
Card 2: How can I bring more nourishment into my life?
Take a moment, take a breath, and choose a card below.
Don’t forget to check in throughout the week as we explore Nourishment more deeply and how it connects with The Empress.
xo,
Natalie

one
Four of Wands & Seven of Cups rx
The 4 of Wands appears here to suggest that the pressure to maintain harmony, uphold traditions, or meet societal or personal expectations is creating a drain.
While these kinds of commitments and events can be uplifting, they may also leave you feeling obligated to perform or focus on others’ needs at the expense of your own.
The 7 of Cups reversed calls for focus and clarity to bring nourishment into your life. It suggests stepping away from illusions, distractions, or internal stories that pull your energy in too many directions.
Instead, prioritize what fulfills you and focus on tangible goals. By cutting through the noise and committing to clear choices, you create space for emotional and spiritual replenishment. Listen to what you really want, don’t be lulled by “shiny object” syndrome.
Clarity and intentionality are the antidotes to overextension.
two
Justice rx & Five of Pentacles rx
Justice reversed points to imbalance and possibly self-criticism as key drains on your nourishment.
You may feel stuck in cycles of guilt, over-analysis, or an inability to make fair decisions for yourself. This misalignment, whether internal or external, blocks the flow of energy needed to sustain you.
The 5 of Pentacles reversed suggests stepping out of isolation, accepting help, and shifting your mindset from scarcity to abundance.
By seeking warmth and care from those around you, and by nurturing yourself with kindness, you can begin to rebuild your sense of stability and security.
Healing lies in embracing the help and opportunities that are available to you.
three
Ten of Swords rx & Three of Pentacles
The 10 of Swords reversed suggests that holding onto past pain or refusing to let go of a cycle that has ended is draining your energy.
While healing may be underway, you might still feel tethered to the stuff that no longer serves you.
Recognize the importance of closure to create space for the new.
The 3 of Pentacles reminds you that to nourish yourself, seek support from others who can help you build something meaningful. This card suggests that teamwork and trusting others to contribute will lighten your load and bring emotional and practical stability.
Whether in work or personal life, leaning into community and collaboration is the way to go right now.
