I’m writing to you today with a view. This morning, I found five or six deer outside my window, my favorite way to start the day. I’m just outside of Idaho Springs, CO, around 8500 ft up.
And let me tell you, it was not a very pleasant adjustment the first night. I dunno if it’s getting older or what, but the last two times I’ve passed 7000 feet, altitude sickness has kicked in. This time, with all the fun symptoms, including losing my dinner, but thankfully, I’m feeling mostly better now.
Celebration & question
I wanted to take a quick second before the cards to say THANK YOU to all of you for reading this each week. I recently passed a new subscriber milestone, and I have you to thank. 🙏
As you may know, Substack has a beautiful chat feature that allows community members to connect around the publications they enjoy.
I’d love to start a Capricorn Born chat in order to connect with others, share tarot or other insights, and even plan meet-ups, etc., depending on where you are in the world.
On to the cards…

The essence of this card is loyalty; however, reversed, there’s something else you should know:
“You may be harshly or irrationally judging the closest to you…accept companionship and avoid lashing out at those who care for you.” -guidebook
Really, this is about recognizing that the beautiful bonds created with a sense of loyalty go both ways. If you are disappointed in your friends or family, take some time to look at how well you’re showing up, too.
Then, try an act of love. A text, call, or letter is a great place to start shifting the energy.

coyote and datura
Having an open and loving heart is a beautiful thing, but this card invites you to examine your boundaries with trust.
Are you too trusting, and has it gotten you into trouble?
Or perhaps you’re creating a pattern where you trust and then get let down.
This sweet card asks that you examine your heart-guarding and heart-opening so that you thrive.
This is a good time to meditate or write about your feelings about trust, especially if you’ve been deceived before. Remember, the story you tell about a situation or person is your story and might not be completely true.
Understanding this concept will help keep your big, beautiful, loving heart a little safer.

marten and foxglove reversed
Mischief is about having fun and not taking life too seriously.
Sure, it can get you in trouble if taken too far, but most of the time, the intention is positive and brings a few laughs along the way.
So, have you allowed enough play and mischief in your life lately?
This is a reminder not to keep your guard so high that fun, laughter, and joy are also kept out.
Get into a little trouble…the fun kind, of course.
